About The Event

It is our pleasure to announce that the 13th Annual ROTARY KEY BISCAYNE WINE & FOOD FEST will be held on Friday, January 26th  2018, from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm at The Rusty Pelican. The evening’s proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of Key Biscayne Foundation (RCKBF) and its affiliated charities for adults and children.

This year a very exciting and interesting showdown will take place… Thirteen different wines from the New World will compete against the same varietals from the Old World to earn recognition as “Best of Show” in each class. A lovely Italian Prosecco will be offered upon arrival to “season the palate” for the wonderful wines to follow.

Shari Gherman, president of the American Fine Wine Competition & Charity Wine Gala, is our wine director again this year.  Five other noted wine professionals, Patrick Sullivan, wine journalist and educator; Wendy Rosano, Sommelier and wine director at Terra Fiamma in Delray Beach; Roberto Colombi, Sommelier and GM of The Blue in the Boca Raton Resort, Patrick Sullivan, Wine Educator and Jacqueline Coleman, “Vino: columnist for Biscayne Times Newspaper will complete the professional Judging panel.

All presented wines have been graciously supplied by Strategic Importers and will be available at Wine Date, our official wine retailer.   A variety of food delicacies prepared by several prominent South Florida restaurants are included in the price of admission.

Arc_SouthFlorida_Color_Pos_Medium_GIFRotary’s collaboration continues with the Arc of South Florida, a Miami-based non-profit helping adults and children with mental disabilities.  Their members will organize the details of the evening and receive part of the proceeds to fund its programming.

This year, Rotary is excited to announce that The Nobis Foundation, a Miami nonprofit organization, will be added to the list the Rotary’s beneficiaries. Although The Nobis Foundation’s operations are Miami-focused, the foundation also makes strategic philanthropic co-investments in indigent rural communities in Ecuador alongside Fundación Nobis, which is headquartered in Ecuador. This year’s co-investment will focus on expanding educational opportunities for rural communities outside of Guayaquil and will also involve a partnership with the Rotary Club of Guayaquil in Ecuador and a continued collaboration with Fundación Manos Del Sur, a Miami-based non-profit providing assistance to disadvantaged children in Latin America in the areas of education, health and nutrition.

Rather than each organization holding an independent fund raising event, The Arc of South Florida and Fundación Manos Del Sur will work together with Rotary to offer attendees not only a wonderful evening, but an opportunity to support different efforts in our community. The Rotary Club is pursuing matching grants from the local Rotary District and Rotary International to further leverage the charitable impact of this event.

Over the past two years, the Rotary Club of Key Biscayne has successfully obtained matching grants exceeding $60,000 to maximize the charitable impact of this fund raiser.
