WHAT: The Rotary Club of Key Biscayne Foundation announces 27 vineyards participating at the 4th Annual Key Biscayne Wine Tasting & Silent Auction Event on Friday, November 7th at The Links in Key Biscayne.

Southern Wine & Spirits of South Florida under the coordination of sommelier Emilio Guerra, Dreyfus Ashby & Co, unveiled a “Tour of the World” wine theme where 27 select vineyards representing eight wine producing regions of the world will pour wines for the delight of all attendees. Regions to be represented are as follows: All the wines will be available for sale at the event at discounted prices.  The venue will coordinate all orders, payment, delivery and pick-up.  

  • Australia:           Southern Australia, Clare Valley, Margaret R., Barossa

  • Argentina:          Mendoza

  • Chile:                 Colchagua, Curico, Casablanca

  • France:              Burgundy, Alsace, Rhone

  • Italy:                  Tuscany, Veneto, Piedmont

  • Spain:                Rioja, Ribera Del Duero, Penedes, Priorat

  • USA:                 Oregon, California

  • Discovery Tour:   Introducing new grape varietals from South Africa and California

Each station will pour five wines including a premium selection to be juried by two judges who will award a Gold Medal to the "best of the best".

This annual event represents Rotary’s continuing collaboration with the Association for Retarded Citizens, South Florida (ARC).  ARC will organize the silent auction portion of the evening and will receive part of the proceeds to fund its adult programming.  Auction lots will consist of over 100 items including travel, restaurant, sports memorabilia as well as goods and services with an estimated market value in excess of $54,000.
 
The Key Biscayne Rotary Club Foundation, also announced two projects to benefit the youth.  Locally, proceeds will help Shake-A-Leg, Miami acquire needed equipment to conduct its marine youth program. Shake-A-Leg, Miami helps children with physical, developmental and economic challenges set sail to provide new hope and opportunities. Internationally, funds will benefit Food For The Poor’s boys orphanage Notre Dame de L’Espoir Boys in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. This project seeks to provide food, clothing and education for several children at the orphanage and to build at least two houses for qualifying families. Both of these projects may be eligible for grant matching by the local Rotary District and by Rotary International.
